User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Nothing New
Although this book was straight forward about how we get an undesirable rear in the first place, and also humorous at times; it did not contain anything new in the way of targeting that area. A very limited section on specific exercises. I was hoping for more of a training manual that would show specific exercises and the correct way to perform them. It was however, a book to help motivate you to do what you already know - eat right and exercise.

1 Star nothing new
If you know anything about diet and fitness this is not for you. This should be called the Butt Book for Dummies. Common sense advice is given. I was hoping for in depth exercises beyond a couple of basic ones. It does not deliver as promised.

4 Stars good because of illustrations and emphasis on clean eating
the pictures helped me understand the positions for the excersises and the fact that clean eating contributes to the healthy butt should not be minimized so yes, this book is a great start. The pictures make it fun, fast and easy to read. There are pictures of the food as well so it makes all those veggies look very appealing; another great start.

5 Stars Great book
The book doesn’t have much stuff that i haven’t seen before, but she definitely makes it very clear how to focus on that part of your body. I love the information on it. It’s clear cut, simple and the book is very easy to read. I got that one and the Eat Clean Diet and love them both.

4 Stars Very enjoyable read
Light reading, but very informative. Great book for understanding how your muscles work. Lots of excercises with pictures, very helpful!

The Fiber35 Diet Natures Weight Loss Secret

The Fiber35 Diet Natures Weight Loss Secret

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Informative and practical
I am very happy with this book. I was more interested in improving my nutrition rather than weight loss. It is informative and an easy read. But in addition to this, it provides a lot of practical information: fiber content in different foods; recipes and sample meal plans. It couldn’t be easier to follow.

3 Stars Fiber does help you lose weight
Thin people know fiber does help you lose weight. Diabetics know that they need fiber along with fruits. No more juice, eat the fruit with the fiber in it or blend it in a blender. Fiber slows down the glycemic load, or to say another way… it slows down the sugar in your body and doesn’t spike it. That’s hard on everyone especially diabetics. Fiber is a bit of a carb blocker, but it is natural and doesn’t have the other bad effects that carb blockers may prove to have in the future. This book also explains how eating often every 2-3 hours tiny meals with fiber will help rev. up the metabolism. Who can’t use that! Get more fiber. It is easy. So many products on the market. And get rid of the overprocessed carbs. the bad ones. The white breads, white rices etc. This book will help you understand how fiber helps everyone.

3 Stars Pretty Good Info
I enjoyed the information. I am already doing weight training, cardio, and 6 meals a day as Tom Venuto recommends at www.burnthefat.com . I bought some fiber choice fiber wafers at Sam’s Club for cheap and I eat a few Kashi Bars each day. I am up to 40 grams a day of fiber and it does help keep everything regular.

I watched her video on PBS.

3 Stars Another Weightloss Guru
This is not a bad book, however I think it is written more along physical than emotional lines, i.e. it suggests a high-fibre diet of at least 35 grams a day and a balanced diet focussing on typical fruits, veggies, etc. Some exercise. But nothing along behavioural lines. For me any long-lasting programme has to start with a very deep-rooted motivation where the will to follow a healthy diet outweighs the compulsion to eat. If the book does not address that compulsion to eat, it can only be a tool, not a programme.

I am however impressed with the product range she has created and am hoping to try out her shakes. She is obviously doing well financially and I cannot help but feel a little exploited when she gives statistics on the billions that are being raked in on products, services and programmes for people who want to loose weight. Obviously she landed in the right business.

I did learn something about fiber in the diet, but in general the book did nothing to motivate me along “wow” lines.

For example: the statement that in order to loose weight, you need to use less calories. Think there is more to losing weight than just less calories. At the very basic level it requires a major overhaul of perception and attitude, training of behaviour, fundamental lifestyle changes, and yes diet as a tool. So as a tool the book is not too bad. Once I have got my attitude straightened out with wanting to loose weight more than giving up on compulsive eating, then yes, her programme may have a good place in my life. Am going to invest in the shakes.

4 Stars Great information for people like me
I am new to the whole organic/herbal thing. This book is the right information for me at the right time. I began this “diet” before receiving the book (I read the first 3 chapters in the book store) and am completely satisfied! I feel better and am losing weight. She shares her knowledge in a way that someone as new to all of this as me can understand.

Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat The Secret Science Behind Physical Transformation

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat The Secret Science Behind Physical Transformation

Diet and fitness books appear at a dizzying rate – and with a wealth of dubious claims – in a culture facing increasing health problems based on a sedentary lifestyle. Ori Hofmekler’s Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat pulls out of the pack by focusing on the biological principles that dictate muscle gain and fat loss. Written for the widest readership–competitive athletes, bodybuilders, trainers, martial artists, sports nutritionists and coaches, dieters, and anyone concerned about their health–the book builds on the concepts popularized in The Warrior Diet. Author Hofmekler describes in simple, lay terms how under-eating and fasting can trigger an anabolic switch that stimulates growth and rejuvenation; how to reengineer the body at the cellular level to burn fat and build muscles; and how to naturally manipulate the body’s hormones for rapid muscle fusion and faster fat breakdown. Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat offers smart strategies for taking advantage of hunger to stimulate growth, burn fat, and boost brain power; techniques for turning insulin into a muscle builder instead of a fat gainer; and methods for shattering training and diet plateaus–in the process enhancing metabolic function, improving performance, and increasing the capacity to gain, and sustain, prime health.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Warrior Diet Part 2
Ori Hofmekler’s “The Warrior Diet” details how and why to diet to achieve maximum performance. His latest venture, “Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat” outlines the science behind it all. I had to read through this one twice to really get my head around what was being taught. I found it extremely interesting to say the least! While I don’t follow the Warrior Diet in a strict fashion, I’m slowly leaning towards it. I think this book was what I was looking for when questions arose from the first one. Anyone interested in fitness or nutrition should get themselves a copy and expand their knowledge. Well done!!!

4 Stars A Must Buy
Turn off the home shopping channel and put down your new low carb diet book. In a sea of crash diets and fitness fads Ori Hofmekler offers an intelligent well researched and functional blueprint for healthy living. In his new book “Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat” Ori’s passion for the beauty and complexity of the human body comes through on every page.

Those of you familiar with “The Warrior Diet” will find new information and further depth in Ori’s latest offering. For readers new to Ori’s research you will find a detailed exploration into how we can fuel and train our bodies to reach our full potential. A far cry from the usual diet/fitness books that line bookstore shelves, Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat offers an unprecedented exploration into the science human performance and in doing so sets a new standard.

Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat is not an easy read. This book is for people who aren’t merely satisfied with diet and training tips but rather this is for people with the drive and capacity to ask why and how things work. Ori takes great care in laying out the science behind training the human body and it is his attention to detail that sets his work apart from the masses. This extremely well written book is packed with technical information along with carefully crafted summaries that help turn the science of training into the art of personal excellence.

Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat goes beyond training for the sake of vanity and explores the science behind functional strength. With this work Ori invites his readers to get off the sofa and go to the extreme in their training. By trumpeting the virtues of such training methods as; supersets, under and over eating the author artfully lays out a plan for healthy living that shows readers how to create “super muscles”, and a fat burning metabolism.

As a martial arts coach and personal training I have encountered countless athletes and weekend warriors who will suffer and sacrifice in the gym only to fail to reach their goals for lack of proper planning in the gym and at the dinner table. Such people go through their training and their life with a kind of handbrake on, never reaching their full potential. For a practical method of pushing the limits of human performance and to create a functionally strong and fit body I highly recommend Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat.

5 Stars DON’T KNOCK IT TILL YOU’VE TRIED IT !!!!
I’m no scientist or nutritionist nor have I consulted one so take this for what it is worth.

I’m a 26 year old active father who needed to lose between 10 and 15 lbs (210lbs. to 200 or so). 4 weeks into the diet I have lost 11 lbs. I feel much healthier and much more alive than before not to mention the energy increase. I don’t understand the science behind anything - could care less. I know from experience that so far this diet works for fat loss and more importntly feeling healthy and well. Which is something I had been missing for about 2 years. THIS FEELS GREAT.

Also, I have tried cutting calories, 6 meals a day, Abs Diet, Body for LIfe, and the like throughout my life. They all work I’m sure - but none of them like this one. This is more than just Fat Loss!

About the supplements -they are all reccomended not required. I take a multi-vitamin and a mineral and thats all. He’s not trying to break you although I’m sure he would appreciate it if you purchased his supplaments. I have not.

5 Stars outstanding technical/scientific reference
This is an excellent reference to the science behind and beyond THE WARRIOR DIET, not that you have to have that book to read this one, but it is more of a clear application guide to the concepts in this book. This book can be a great resource to the serious athlete but because it gives no specific plan to use the information in it, it is not for the weekend health recreationalist. Be warned it is a very complex book, the information is all there, but the average reader will likely have trouble understanding much of the information without some background or previous interest in the technical functions of chemicals and hormones in the body. A lot of scientific talk here. Excellent book, but be ready to do more research to get a full understanding of all the knowledge in here.

2 Stars Complicated
-This book is not written for the average caveman. While reading it, and I did read the whole thing, I found myself blah blah blahing in my head until I hit an interesting point or two.

-It is a really indepth look at the hypothesis that is featured and simplified in “The Warrior Diet” book. If I was able to skim through this in a book store I more than likely would not have bought it and read it. While I fully recomend the latter I do not recomend “Maximum Muscle: Minimum Fat”.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Rediscovering MY Native Fitness
I have always been a ’round’ person and I come from a very ’round’ family. Exercising and losing weight have been life long challenges for me. Then along came PACE. Even me, 5ft 4in, 180 lbs, could do this program in one-minute increments. It was a little tough in the beginning (yeah, I was that out of shape) but in no time, I felt myself getting stronger and thinner. Anyone can customize PACE to his or her life. I ride my bike, sprint, rollerblade and swim. The way you can apply this program is up to you. The principles are what are important in this program: exertion/rest. I am not going to lie; I was thrilled with being thinner but the real plus was feeling better. A lot better! I no longer compare myself to others. It really has changed my life. Not being self-conscious has made me confident enough to do things that the `round’ me never dreamed of! (Diet is very important as well.)

5 Stars Definitely on the cutting edge! Excellent stuff!
I’ve long been a fan of Dr. Sears and am happy to see this book finally in print. As is frequently the case, Al Sears is ahead of the curve. The idea of high intensity short duration interval training is finally getting it’s due, and the research is beginning to come out to support it. Think about it: did you ever see a flabby sprinter? I like the PACE program because it’s doable, effective and easy to follow. If you’re tired of 60-90 minute workouts on a treadmill, you should absolutely give this program a try. I wrote about it in my book, ‘The Most Effective Natural Cures on Earth” because I really believe it deserves a wider audience.

Jonny Bowden, PhD, CNS

author, ‘The Most Effective Natural Cures on Earth”

5 Stars Terrific Book!
I started the PACE program about 2 months ago and I just love it. I don’t have time to spend hours at the gym. With PACE I spend about 10 to 15 minutes 4 times a week. It is perfect if you are a busy person and don’t have a lot of time. And, I do it wherever and whenever I want. It is an incredibly flexible program. The bonus…I lost weight. So far I lost 13 pounds. I feel great.

As for the book itself, it is very easy to follow. Exercise plans are perfectly laid out for you. It also gives you charts to track your progress. You can also go on-line and ask questions on the PACE Forum. So far I used it about three or four times and found it very helpful for motivation.

The bottome line is, if you want to get healthy and live longer you should pick up a copy of this book. I am glad I did.

5 Stars Great Programs
I am a believer in Dr. Sears…I started out by purchasing the PACE book for myself and had such great success with the program. Could not believe how quickly I increased my stamina, reduced my body fat and just plain felt better. So excited that I found an exercise program that I could stick to with minimal efforts and maximum results I shared it with my family who to date has seen the same results. Because I was so impressed with Dr. Sears PACE program I decided to purchase Dr’s Heart Cure and 12 Secrets to Virility for my Dad who has heart disease and diabetes. By slowly applying the principles of both books my Dad is now living a healthier and happier life. Dr. Sears gives sound, easy to follow and effective advice that anyone can do. I just purchased his new Sun book and can’t wait to see what I can do to improve my health next. Please keep the books coming Dr. Sears, me and my family can’t get enough!

5 Stars One SATISFIED customer
Talk about results! Dr. Sears’s PACE book changed my life. His take on fitness really works, it takes about 80% less time than the usual long, boring workout routines, and the changes — physically and in terms of mood — are lasting.

I used to be a heavy smoker, 50 lbs overweight, pretty much a couch potato. I’d joined a gym but usu. didn’t get around to going (I was a little embarrassed about my appearance, to be totally honest). And the workout routines like “cardio” and weight lifting were so dull, I couldn’t stay with it. Even when I did them with consistency, I wasn’t seeing much in the way of real improvement.

Then a friend told me about Dr. Sears’s PACE challenge and how it had really worked for him. So I subscribed to his on-line e newsletter (he puts out two a week, really helpful, plus longer features monthly) and started getting a truly different perspective on health.

After my copy of the PACE book arrived, I started putting the principles into practice. The book really lets you go at your own “pace.” And Dr. Sears’s take is pretty convincing.

The key for me is it’s not about long, boring routines. He’s got a totally different take on fitness — you increase intensity, but not duration, to lose weight and build muscle. You can choose which kind of exercise you want to do — anything that gets your heart rate up. Plus you can do it anywhere.

I lost the weight, but more importantly, I got my heart and lung capacity back up to where I NEVER get winded like I used to — moving furniture, doing yard work, even playing pick-up football on Sundays (something I hadn’t done since college. Plus I’m not sore and tired from hours in the gym. I don’t spend hours at the health club or a lot of money on memberships

Everyone should give PACE a try!

I also recommend checking out Dr. Sears’s Web site — www.alsearsmd.com. That’s where I signed up for the newsletter; it helped me get a handle on how his PACE program fits in with health and diet, which have really helped me stay fit. I ordered a few of his nutritional supplements and find I’ve got more energy than ever. More people should know about him.

You Could Have Syndrome X

by Dr. Sandra Cabot

If you find it impossible to lose weight, have a tendency to gain weight around your abdomen, or have high blood pressure, you may be suffering from Syndrome X. Caused by a chemical imbalance that forces the body to store rather than burn fat, Syndrome X is the number one reason most people are unable to lose weight. In CAN’T LOSE WEIGHT? internationally known diet expert Dr. Sandra Cabot reveals the hidden causes of weight excess and outlines a viable course of action for overcoming Syndrome X. Featuring a 12-week metabolic weight-loss eating program with recipes, CAN’T LOSE WEIGHT? addresses the factors that prevent you from losing weight and offers permanent and sensible solutions.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Really Works!!
I went to see Dr Cabot in person when a friend dragged me along. The whole time she was talking to the 500+ people there I could have SWORN that she was talking to me directly. I bought this book the next day and over the following three months I lost 30kg (that’s 66 pounds in US language) and it was not so much the weight loss - but I felt like a million dollars :-) I would recommend this book to anyone.

4 Stars Worked for Me - 66 Pound Loss in 4 Months
Of all people, my chiropractor recommended this book to me. I waited four months to read it and another month to take action. Between 4 June and 15 October, I lost 30 kg! Since the first purchase, I have bought 15 copies at Amazon.com for friends. You could say I believe in this book.

Why not 5 stars? The key concepts in the book require you to read the entire book. It is not a bad thing to read the whole book, but 20% of the book contains 99% of the material of interest.

5 Stars X- factor
Wide-ranging discussion of often unknown factors that prevent weight loss. Highly recommended.
