Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat An Easy Plan for Losing Weight and Living More

Diets don’t work. Why not? Because they focus on what foods we should and shouldn’t eat but completely ignore everything else that makes us fat. Look at your own situation: You say you want to lose weight, but you just can’t stop indulging. You say you’d exercise more if only you had the time, yet you spend precious hours every night in front of the TV doing what? Munching nutrition-free snacks and drinking supersized beverages.

Peter Walsh, the bestselling author of It’s All Too Much: An Easy Plan for Living a Richer Life with Less Stuff, believes that the secret to successfully losing weight is to forget about calorie counting and weekly weigh-ins. Instead you need to focus on how, why, and where you eat. When it comes to clearing clutter (the fat in our homes) it isn’t about the stuff itself, it’s about the life you want to live. The same is true for losing weight: It’s not about the pounds, it’s about living the life you deserve in the body you want.

Using his expert techniques honed from years as a clutter expert and organizational consultant on TLC’s Clean Sweep, Peter helps you address how the clutter in your kitchen, your pantry, and your home is directly related to the clutter on your body and negatively affects your ability to lead a full and healthy life. This book shows you how to clean up not just the spaces where you eat, but the routines around them: from planning meals and shopping to dinnertime rituals.

Peter knows all the pitfalls and all the excuses. In Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat? he gives you the tools (and courage) you need to get over all your excuses, face the issues, and make the change to a better life.

This is not a diet book. This is a book about your life — about creating the healthy life and body you have always imagined for yourself. Peter helps you kick the food-clutter habit forever. You have only one life. Start living it today.

5 Stars Worth it if you’re ready to make a change.
I bought this book along with his other one “It’s All too Much!”. I suggest reading the first book, then this one because it sets the ground work and you’ll get an understanding of where he’s going. It was so freeing to get rid of stuff in my cupboard that “maybe I’ll make someday”. I had pudding in there that was 10 years old. I then made menus, and did grocery shopping. I made what I shopped for, and with the exception of buying fruit /veggies and sandwiches one night, we had enough for a week and a half! This is because in the book he tells you not to bring in anymore stuff until you finish what you have, or use it to plan the next week’s menus. This is a great way to save money and be more thoughtful about what you’re making. I’ve only had the book for a month, so whether I’ll lose anything remains to be seen. I have dieted since high school. I know tons about nutrition, portion sizes, fat, calories, exercise, etc. This book is not going to give you the latest and greatest fad. It is about getting to the bottom of what’s in our kitchens and clearing our heads to focus on what we all know about healthy diets and nutrition.

5 Stars Clutter-free living & eating
Boy, if I can follow all the step-by-step instructions Peter recommends, life would be so much simplified! This is a great book and anyone who picks it up will benefit in some way, big or small, depending on how far you follow his lead. Just the idea of PLANNING what you are going to eat instantly rids you of bad choices resulting in loss of weight and increase in self-esteem.

5 Stars Does this Clutter make my butt look Fat?
Love this book. Humor and a quick kick in the pants all wrapped up in an organizing weight loss book.

4 Stars Surprisingly Insightful
The title of the book is certainly an attention-getter, but I wasn’t sure whether a clutter expert really had much to say about overeating and struggling to lose weight. I’d never read any of his other books or seen him on TV. What motivated me to buy this book was a review I read in People magazine. Peter Walsh said that he saw a connection between overstuffed bodies and overstuffed homes. Knowing that I was definitely a part of his demographic, I was curious to see what he had to say about it. I found his book intelligent and informative. He takes a down-to-earth, no-nonsense kind of approach to addressing the issues, but is also funny and human (as opposed to, say, something more clinical and “professional”.) He makes no claims to be a weight-loss or nutrition or fitness expert. He writes as someone with lots of experience in helping other people organize their lives and get out from under things that are weighing them down. As I read through the book, I found myself highlighting many passages that resonated with me. In one quote, he kind of sums up the whole theme of his approach to weight loss: “The starting point for change is the vision you hold in your mind for the life you want to live.” This is not a book for people looking for the next miracle diet. This is for people who want to make serious and lasting lifestyle changes. Another quote that resonated with me: “An imbalanced relationship with food doesn’t have a place in your best life. At the very least, overeating is a hurdle to achieving the life you want. At its worst, it’s life-threatening. You can’t invest time in any better work than this. It’s an investment toward the life you want for yourself.” I fouind this book to be inspirational and motivational, and copied some of his quotes into my diet journal to help keep me on track. I recommend it to anyone struggling with these issues.

5 Stars Peter Walsh Does It Again!
Peter Walsh has produced another great How To book, this time drawing a connection between the clutter around us and the clutter ON us. What he has to say makes great sense to me–enough so that I’m quitting dieting, getting rid of my clutter and letting my efforts just spill over into helping me achieve my weight loss goals.

The Fat Flush Fitness Plan

The Fat Flush Fitness Plan

The Fat Flush Fitness Plan, written by a powerhouse team, offers Joanie Greggains’ detailed exercise program, designed to complement Ann Louise Gittleman’s The Fat Flush Plan. Gittleman is a high-profile nutritionist, frequently featured in the media. Veteran fitness expert Greggains, author of Fit Happens, hosted television’s long-running “Morning Stretch” and leads 15 workout videos. Greggains emphasizes low-impact aerobics, weight training, stretching, more sleep, and calmer living. The eating program (you’ll need Gittleman’s other books for the details) hinges on Gittleman’s premise that “cleansing the liver and the lymphatic system is absolutely crucial for physical health, weight loss, and an overall sense of well-being.” This isn’t a quick-fix program, but a long-term, lifestyle change including yoga, walking or rebounding, strength training with a weighted ball, stretching, lymphatic massage, and aromatherapy baths. Start with Phase 1: “Detox, Start Moving–and Relax”; add strength training in Phase 2: “Build Lean Muscle Mass”; increase cardio and change the strength routine in Phase 3: “Lymph-Fit/Compound Strength and Stretching Plan.” All phases present a step-by-step, clearly illustrated exercise program. The book is nicely designed, with clear photographs, boxed tips, write-in questionnaires, pledges, and a sample journal. –Joan Price

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great companion to the Fat Flush Diet Plan
If you’re looking for an exercise regime to complement the Fat Flush Diet Plan, then this is the book for you. Besides recommended exercises for the three phases of the Fat Flush Diet, Ann Gittleman and Joanie Greggains go into other information that is just as important as exercising for the diet to succeed. These are: dry brushing for the lymph system; proper sleep; using essential oils for your bath. They also discuss cellulite, and how best to diminish it. I found the book very useful and informative. I love using my rebounder! I recommend this book very highly.

5 Stars Gittleman’s Greatness, Then The Title
As usual, this book is very informative, so I give her three stars in that respect. Her books in general paint a splendid natural way to eat for health-conscious people that harkens to a time when organic food was the norm. Sometimes I slap myself when I realize what brave new world we exist in now when eating organic food is a luxury. Who knew that one day we would have to pay ridiculous prices to avoid eating hormone-pumped chickens allowed to sit and fatten in cages under artificial light while being fed animal byproducts to boot? “Organic” food now costs two to three times more than conventional food.

I have nothing but appreciation for nutritionists now. When I was young and couldn’t comprehend death, I’ve been known to shew away nutritionists with one hand and with a candy bar in the other. Now they’re my mystic advisers who are themselves advised by science; this regimen is a reliable and sound one. I have been on this plan for one week. I have already lost six pounds.

Most importantly, I have gained mental clarity and stability. I have recently been severely depressed and was prescribed antidepressants. This regimen was my last hope that I can reverse the problem myself. I believe, as a result of this diet (flaxseed oil in particular), my moods are not so strong and intrusive. I still feel frustration, but it’s no longer overpowering and I can usually persist through my problems. I also feel energized. So that desire to oversleep is almost completely eliminated. And there is still more to come as I walk toward that horizon of more possibilities — exercise!

5 Stars If you HATE to exercise, this book’s for YOU!
Ya hafta love a book (Fat Flush Fitness Plan) that advises you to take a long, scented, therapeutic bath three times a week as an aid to appetite suppression! (I’m sooooooooo there!)(page 165)
And dry skin brushing! I mean, who knew?! Since starting this regimen, my skin is soft as silk AND I have the added smug knowledge that this routine aids the lymphatic system in flushing fat!
Add to these activities some yoga, stretching, rebounding, and cardio workout and you have a varied, supportive exercise regimen that seems more like fun than a chore. (Let’s face it, there’s no such thing as a too tight [rear]!)
Bottom line: this is a smart book. You NEED this book! You WANT this book! You DESERVE this book!

5 Stars Not only the best fitness book but gives you so much more!
This book was well written and easy to read. Finally a fitness plan that works in harmony with your body and your total overall health. I like that the book not only goes in detail (including pictures ) about the fitness plan but also includes important information about cleansing our lymphatic system, reducing stress, eating well and giving us the knowledge and tools to create a healthy body from within as well as being fit on the outside. It complements my other book the fat flush plan, lost 45 lbs. Thanks for turning my size 14 body to size 5!

5 Stars Works for Me!
As a veteran dieter I am slow to jump on new diet plans. However, I quickly learned that Fat Flush is not just a new approach to weight loss but an attempt at a higher standard of nutritional health and well-being.

I found this book and the plan it outlines to be exceptionally beneficial toward my weight correction goals and toward general health improvement efforts. I think the menus are tasty and satisfying. I find Ann Louise Gittleman to be very thorough in her concerns for the overweight and addresses many more issues than just what to eat. I find her book and the resources she offers in it to be very helpful.

I wholeheartedly recommend the book to anyone struggling with weight problems. I wholeheartedly recommend the book to anyone concerned with their health.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Calorie King
Love this little book, very informative. I use it daily, especially in dining out choices.

5 Stars I use this book for my weight loss group
I have bought about 50 of these books and use them for my weight loss group. It is the best calorie counting book I have ever used. It also includes carbs and fat grams for each item. It would have helped to include sodium but it doesn’t have that. But it does have a few pages in the back (about 10 pages) that lists the sodium, fiber, protein and iron of many foods. It has an index in the back so you can quickly look up items. It gives lots of helpful information about healthy eating tips and target ranges for daily intake of carbs, calories and fats. It gives lots of other helpful information too about the glycemic index, BMI, calories burned for various exercises, etc. It also has a lengthy fast food section. It doesn’t contain every fast food business but has enough to make an educated guess about any food you might buy at a fast food restaurant. I am very happy with this inexpensive, well written book. I have used them for about 6 months in my groups.

5 Stars outstanding
This is an amazing aid whether diabetic or trying to lose weight. This small book is packed with info from calories, carbs, fat, etc. It also includes many restaurants rating their top menu items. It’s incredibly helpful. I have purchased this book for so many relatives and friends as well as frequently use it for our family. It’s also attractively packaged and very user friendly. Nonreaders will also find it easy to use and comprehend.

5 Stars Good Book
Great book. You have to get used to how it is organized, but it’s great for a quick reference and the small size doesn’t take up much room in the kitchen.

4 Stars One Good Step in Your Diet Program
This is a handy, little book. It has an enormous amount of useful information about different foods, but it has been a little difficult getting used to how the book is organized. I found it best to go straight to the index at the back of the book to quickly find the calorie content for my next meal.
